Giving Opportunities

Your gift makes all the difference.

Private gifts play a vital role in the quality of our programs and in our ability to remain a premier training ground for future scholars. Your commitment makes the difference in enhancing the education of our students. A gift to the music theory area is an investment in their future.

Ways to Give

Cash gifts to the following funds go to work immediately to enhance the opportunities provided to our students:

Music Theory Student Research/Professional Development Fund (Give here: AE060849)

Provides support to graduate students as they move along the path toward becoming professional scholars. This support takes the form of travel to professional conferences, participation in workshops and other professional-development opportunities, and funding for student research projects.

Music Theory Teaching and Learning Excellence Fund (Give here: AE060850)

Provides support for initiatives that directly impact student learning and student success at the graduate and undergraduate levels. This support takes the form  of funding to increase the tutoring capacity of the Music Theory Learning Center, which aims to support student success in the undergraduate core curriculum in music theory. It also takes the form of books, technology, software, and other materials used by graduate assistants in their development as teachers.

Music Theory Visiting Scholars Fund (Give here: AE060851)

Provides funds to bring distinguished guest scholars to the Michigan State University campus. These residencies play a vital role in the music theory area by presenting cutting-edge research through guest lectures, by working directly with our students in guest-taught courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and by mentoring the emerging scholars in our graduate program on research, pedagogy, and professional development.

Music Theory Area Fund (Give here: AE060792)

Provides support for faculty and student initiatives in research, teaching, and professional development.
